10. Vapor Barrier: Polyethylene sheet, reinforced, minimum three mil (.003") thickness:
a. "TU-TUF 3" (Sto-Cote Products); "Griffolyn Type-65" (Reef Industries); "Rufco SS-300" (Raven
Industries); or equal and approved
b. Seam Tape: "8086 Contractor Sheathing Tape" (3M); "Fab Tape" (Reef Industries); "Rufco Tape"
(Raven Industries); or equal and approved.
E. Adhere rigid insulation at exterior and interior of foundation walls to masonry with mastic adhesive compatible
with insulation.
F. Protect exposed, exterior foundation perimeter insulation with synthetic stucco finish; color and texture as
selected by the Architect.
G. Install urethane foam and BIB insulation at perimeter rim joists.
H. Install BIB insulation fill depth at all rim joists, exterior wall stud cavities, floor joist cavities overhanging at
exterior, floor joist cavities above Garage, and where shown on the Drawings:
1. At insulated floors containing plumbing, net around plumbing so that installed insulation does not carry
over top of piping — insulation must not be installed between plumbing piping and heated space.
2. Install BIB full thickness of stud cavities at all interior walls around bathrooms, powder rooms, laundry
rooms, etc. - verify with the Architect.
3. Install with pneumatic equipment recommended by, and in strict compliance with manufacturer's
guidelines for minimum density to obtain specified thermal resistance.
I. At shim space of all exterior door and window frames, fill cavity behind nailing flanges with urethane foam, for
approximately 1/2 wall thickness. Chink remainder of cavity with unfaced fiberglass batts.
J. Install batt insulation snugly between framing members. Cut and fit around pipes, conduit, and outlet faces as
necessary to maintain integrity of thermal barrier.
K. Spray foam or otherwise seal all potential air bypasses in the building shell, including wall, roof and ceiling
penetrations.
L. Install continuous, sealed vapor barrier at intenor of all exterior floors, walls, ceilings, and at warm side of
interior floors and walls at perimeter of Garage:
1. Seal all seams and tears with seam tape.
2. Tape to plastic electrical vapor barrier boxes and IC rough-in kits for light fixtures within insulated ceilings.
3. Apply continuous sealant at base of exterior and interior insulated walls.
633 SPECIFICATIONS
Page 41
