The wall is basically a non-bearing wall since the floor joists above run parallel to the wall. <br /> <br />I recommend using a double 2x10 for the new door header with one trimmer stud and one full height stud at each <br />jamb. Install blocking in the floor below each jamb, if needed. The wall in the lower level is a masonry wall which <br />can easily support the loads from the jambs above. <br /> <br />Let me know if you have any questions. <br /> <br />Jared K.
