Other methods
for reduction of phosphorus have been reviewed by the Watershed District
and do not appear feasible. Therefore it appears that use of a N[TRP ond
based on the Waker mod'el is eapected to be an effective method of
phosphorus reduction for this watershed.
g. The location of the propqsed detention basin is appropriate because it is
located betvveen the outlet of the creek to Long Lake and the coifluence of..;i,.
the two creeks from Medina;because it avoids excavation on wooded hills •
with steep slopes north of County Road 6 which «ould have a significant
impact on the adjacent residential properties and potential impact on
Wolsfeld Woods Nature Area; and because it avoids the need for excavation
or alteration of the significnt Type III wetland located directly upstream
from the creek outlet at Lorg Lal:e.
h. While the site is adjacent to residential properties;the location will be heavily
screened from surrounding houses by existing veaetation. The primary visual
impacts will be fi•om County Road 6. The proposed site is adjacent to
Count.y Road 6 which enhan;.es ease of the construction and long-term poncl
 maintenance. .
