AI Prr.64,
1(wiaAM U6wm
Dear John
.Swam Af Ltwm,
We have obtained soil borings on the Woodhill Avenue Street Improvement Proi-
ect. The soil borings indicate up to 19 feet of organic soils in some areas.
There are three options for constructing the street a3 outlined in the soils
report. The street could be surcharged to remove the potential fd"P signifi-
cant settlement in the future. The organic material could bc• excavated out
and backfilled with granular material. The street can be constructed over the
existing embankment with the use of a stabilization fabric.
The surcharging of the site does not appear to be desirable as it would re-
quire closing the road for approximately three months. The excavation of the
organic material is a viable option but gets quite expensive. We estimate
that this option would acid $75,000 to the project cost.
Construction of the street on the exlstins, embankment would see..1 to be the
most desirable alternative. The existing roalwav appears to be quite stable
over this er,-a. We would not anticipate anv sipnificant change in stability
as a result of f-he constr;,c.ion.
We would anticipate some settlement in the street over a period of years. The
rural design section through the low area will minimize the maintenance prob-
lems for the City. This new soils information will require a change in the
alignment from that proposed in the preliminary report. We were originally
planning to wiAen the roadway to the north. We would now recommend that the
new construction be .:entered on the existinv roadwa,! throuith the low aree.
The project costs could he ;ncreased by in percent as a result of additional
tree removal and restoration worts.
If you have anv queti-fns, please contact this office
Yours very truly.
EONF.STROO, ROSFNE, AWDERLIK 6 AR'ZI'CIATES, INS .
 - 4-4
Glenn
GRC:Ii pile
