'.:i. . <br /> r� r �1 <br /> � O� <br /> • O O • <br /> ��b. - CITY of ORONO <br /> � � <br /> ti <br /> ��� ��'�' RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL . <br /> � �kESH�g' NO. _ 3 � � S <br /> A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT CITY OF ORONO HOUSING GOALS � <br /> WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Livable Communities Act requires the Metropolitan <br /> council to negotiate with each municipality to establish affordable and life cycle housing goals � <br /> for that municipality, that are consistent with and promote the policies of the Metropolitan <br /> Council, as provided in the adopted Metropolitan Development Guide; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Orono Community Management Plan includes the following <br /> goals: <br /> • 1. To improve'the housing conditions of persons residing in substandard housing. <br /> 2. To p�'ovide safe, healthful and blight free residences and neighborhoods. <br /> 3. To provide opportunities for a mix of housing types, locations, and cost ranges <br /> which will meet the needs and provide adequate housing for age and family <br /> groups. <br /> 4. To provide housing types and residential densities consistent with environmental <br /> and land use plans and with the availability of public services and facilities. <br /> 5. To provide immediately beneficial housing programs for the greatest number of <br /> needy Orono residents. <br /> WHEREAS, the city is currently involved with other lake area cities in reviewing the <br /> concept of cluster planning or subregional planning for housing needs in the lake area; and <br /> _WHEREAS, Metro cities are to update the housing elements of their Comprehensive <br /> Plans by 1998; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Orono City Council that the City <br /> of Orono does hereby adopt the above housing goals and will review those housing goals in 1998 <br /> • based on information that may result from the cluster planning and/or housing element update <br /> process. <br />
