Stormwater Narrative/Summary December 5, 2021
Tanager Creek
Orono, MN
4 | P a g e
The existing and proposed topography directs surface water towards the wetlands north and east of the
project area. Runoff from the proposed site conditions will be treated prior to discharge into the wetland
complex.
Invasive Species Removal and Management Plans
Invasive species that exist outside of wetland and lakeshore buffer areas will be removed during grading
operations for the subdivision. Common Buckthorn can be removed via the cut stump treatment method.
This method involves cutting the stems at ground level and treating the stems. This is most effective when
completed in late summer or fall, with the treated stems left throughout the fall and winter.
Tree Removal and Protection Plan
Significant tree impacts will be reduced as much as possible and have been avoided to the extent practical
during the design process. Individual home construction will use custom home designs to limit tree
removals as practical.
Ecological Communities Discussion
The goal of the project is to create a residential development that fits into the existing site and maintains
the rural feel of the area. The proposed private street will follow the existing driveway and turf yard area
to minimize tree removal and other impacts. Houses will be constructed in upland areas and utilize custom
designs to further minimize tree impacts. The natural corridors located along the property boundaries will
be maintained.
View of the Property
Views of the property from Brown Road, as well as from across the wetland and Long Lake Creek, will
remain primarily as is. Proposed tree removals are situated within the interior of the subject property, thus
maintaining the screened views from outside the parcel.
Landmark Preservation Plan
No landmarks exist on the subject property.
