VanEeckhout Building Corporation
Attention: Mr. Chuck VanEeckhout - 3 - August 27, 19S]
Percolation test results are, in general, consistent with the texture of the
s it materials in which the percolation tests were performed.
The City of Orono requires at least three (3.0) feet elevation difference
between the bottom of standard soil ab;:urption trenches and the water table
or indicators of periodic saturation, such as soil mottling. The City of
Orono also stipulates that soils acceptable for standard soil absorption
systems should have a percolation rate faster than 60 minu::es per inch. Test
results indicate that tested soils at the proposed lots do ncttreet both of
these requirements. Therefore, the soils are unsuitable for standard soil
absorption systems. However, the soil tests show that six of the seven lots
are acceptable for standard mound s-stems.
Siting criteria for mound systems include the following requirements:
Slope (%) Percolation Kate (min/in)
0-3 60-120
3-6 30-60
6-12 5-30 (approval contingent on inspection
by Inspector)
Percolation test results indicate that most of the proposed lots meet the
above criteria. The lest with the " W' testholes will require an engineered,
mound design to overcome moo:; limitations.
After proposed house locations are decided, indi...idual mound designs show'
be made. If proposed house locations cover sol. test areas, additional
percolation testing may be required.
The sole purpose of soils data contained herein is evaluation of soil suit-
ability for on -site absorption of septic tank effluent at the test site.
Although soil texture and horizonation information and ground water elevation
data may be helpful for the setting of basement elevations at tais site, we
cannot warrant any such interpretations or use of this data for other purposes.
Tf you have any questions about inforniation contained in this report, please
eel free to contact n .
-rice teIY,
P',W:SON ANDERSON ASSOCIATES, INC.
t.ary J.
