I ,, ..
q
]
ABSTRACT
Svoboda Ecological Resources (SER) staff examined the Van Eeckhout Parcel on
October 1./, 1998for jurisdictional wetlands using procedures specified in the 1987 Army
Corps' of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual. The parcel is approximately 20 acres
located in the NWJI./ of the NEIi./, Section 3, T 117 N, R 23 W, Hennepin County,
Minnesota. The National Wetland Inventory (NW!) Excelsior Quadrangle indicates one basin
that extends north and east off-site. The Hennepin County Soil Survey indicates the presence
of hydric soils on the subject property. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources
Protected Waters map for Hennepin County indicates that Long Lake Creek is a protected
stream that flows through the property. We delineated and staked two wetland basins in the
field; one extends off-property to the north and east. The approximate wetland area of all
bq.sins combined as delineated by SER is 7.26 acres.
INTRODUCTION
The Van Eeckhout parcel is located in the NWl/4 of the NEl/4, Section 3, T 117 N, R
23 W, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Surrounding land use included suburban housing, forest,
and wetland. This delineation was necessary because our client, Mr. Charles Van Eeckhout,
intends to sub-divide his lot for housing.
STUDY METHODS
SER reviewed the National Wetland Inventory (NWI) Excelsior Quadrangle, Hennepin
County Soil Survey, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Protected Waters
map of Hennepin County, and aerial photographs prior to visiting the site. We evaluated all
potential wetland areas by surveying vegetation, soils, and hydrology as outlined in the 1987
U.S. Army Corps' of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual (hereafter, 1987 Manual).
Svoboda Ecological Resources
Project No.: 98-060-03 1
Van Eeckhout Parcel
Mr. Charles Van Eeckhout
