MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />Monday,June18,2001 <br />(#01-2682 Tim Olson, Continued) <br />Hawn stated it would be her recommendation that the Zoning Code be changed. <br />Kluth inquired how many lots in Orono would be affected by this change. <br />Gaffron stated the Planning Commission probably sees a minimum of two to three similar <br />applications a year. <br />Mabusth inquired whether Staff has received any response from the adjoining property owners. <br />Bottenberg stated they have not. <br />There were no public comments regarding this application. <br />Lindquist moved, Stoddard seconded, to recommend approval of Application #01-2682, <br />Timothy F. Olson, 2510 Old Beach Road, granting of a conditional use permit to construct an <br />accessory building on the property as proposed, meeting all required setbacks. <br />VOTE: Ayes 7, Nays 0. . <br />Hawn moved, Kluth seconded, to recommend the City Council consider changing the <br />Zoning Code regulating "through" lots. VOTE: Ayes 7, Nays 0. <br />(#2) #01-2683 RICK BENSON, 776 NORTH BROWN ROAD, VARIAN CE, <br />6:37 p.m. -6:40 p.m. <br />Rick Benson, Applicant, was present . <br />The Certificate of Mailing and Affidavit of Publication were noted. <br />Bottenberg stated the Applicants are proposing to replace the existing decks on the lakeside of the <br />residence. The existing decks are old and in deteriorating condition. The new decks will be the same <br />size and in the same location as the existing decks . <br />The Applicants are not proposing an increase in structural coverage or hardcover. The structural <br />coverage on the lot will remain at 6. 7 percent and hardcover in the 75-250' setback <!,rea will remain <br />at 24.06 percent. <br />A variance to the average lakeshore setback is required to permit the deck to encroach 70 feet into the <br />average lakeshore setback. <br />City Staff recommends approval of the requested variance. <br />Benson had nothing to add to Staffs report. <br />Hawn inquired whether the screen porch would also be replaced. <br />PAGE2
