MINUTES OF THE ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />HELO JUNE 21, 1993 <br />ZONING FILE #1831 -CONT. <br />Engler stated he would I ike to ask his attorney prior to committing <br />to an easement. He noted the area has been used by the City for <br />many years without problems. He added they would prefer to remove <br />a portion of the bituminous instead of the plastic, however, they <br />realized the need to allow it to remain for City use. <br />Nolan asked if the y would consider the easement if the legal <br />ramifications could be wor k ed out. <br />Mrs. Eng I er stated they have worked we I I with the Cit y in the past <br />and would prefer to leave things as they are. <br />Mr. Eng I er added they wou Id prefer not to encumber the property <br />with an easement. <br />Chair Schroeder asked if it would be possible to reduce the <br />proposal so a lot co v erage v ar i ance would not be necessar y. <br />Mrs. Engler stated they have a l r~ad y reduced the addition. <br />It was moved by Rowlette, seconded by Lindquist, to r ·ecommend <br />approval of Application #1831 for Edward Engler, 3450 Birch Lane, <br />for variances to construct an addition to his existing residence, <br />subject to all the hardcover removed as shown on the plan and with <br />the added condition that a drainage plan b:e submitted with trre <br />bu i I d i n g p e rm i t a pp I i ca· t i on • Ayes 7 , n a y s O . <br />(#4) #1832 SCOTT A. An existing <br />shed will be removed. The shed will be set back 146' from the <br />street lot I ine. The hardship is the topography to the rear of the <br />residence, and the only flat area is used for the septic system. <br />Phi I Ne I son, surveyor, added the net increase is 32 square feet, <br />no mature trees wi 11 be disturbed and very I ittle grading wi 11 be <br />required. <br />6
