S � a <br /> A PROCLAMATION ESTABLISHING <br /> � APRIL 25-26, 1998 <br /> AS MARCH FOR PARKS WEEKEND <br /> WI�REAS,April 25-26, 1998 has been established as "March for Parks Weekend"; <br /> and � <br /> , WHEREAS, the purpose of organizing March for Parks was to plan a nationwide <br /> demonstration of public concern over the perilous condition of the nation's parks and public spaces; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,these events will not only raise awareness,butalso necessary funds for <br /> park improvement, protection, and education projects benefiting national, state and local public <br /> parks; and � <br /> � WHEREAS,those participating in March for Parks are demonstrating that they are <br /> committed to protecting and revitalizing our national treasures for generations to come; and <br /> WHEREAS,everyone must become familiar with the environmental consequences <br /> of their actions and the impact it will have on future generations. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, the Mayor of Orono, do hereby proclaim April 25-26, <br /> 1998 as "1Vlarch for Parks Weekend" in Orono, Minnesota, and call upon the residents of this city <br /> to observe and participate in this weekend,as well as the days ahead,with sensitivity and respect for <br /> the nation's precious parks and public spaces.
