POSITION OVERVIEW <br />C H I E F O F <br />P O L I C E <br />Chief leads law enforcement for 4 cities- <br />Orono, Mound, Minnetonka Beach, and <br />Spring Park (with a total of nearly 22,000 <br />residents). <br />Oversees 28 full-time officers, 4 part-time <br />officers, 3 civilian staff, 1 CSO and 4 CSO <br />cadets, plus strong volunteer/reserve and <br />advisory support. <br />KEY PRIORITIES <br />C O R E R E S P O N S I B I L I T I E S <br />Strengthen relationships with PSA cities, Fire Departments, <br />Sheriff’s Office, Water Patrol, and regional partners. <br />Support, mentor, and develop staff; maintain high morale; <br />define goals and expectations. <br />Focus on community policing, proactive patrol, <br />neighborhood watch, and youth engagement. <br />Ensure policies, procedures, budgeting, and reporting meet <br />modern standards. <br />Continue advancing emergency management, mutual aid <br />coordination, and data-driven service needs. <br />O P E R A T I O N A L <br />A D M I N I S T R A T I V E & O R G A N I Z A T I O N A L <br />C O L L A B E R A T I O N & <br />Lead and manage all police operations. <br />Oversee investigations, patrol, traffic <br />enforcement, and community outreach. <br />Direct emergency preparedness and <br />interagency coordination. <br />Participate in police work when needed, <br />including arrests and evidence management. <br />Recruit, hire, and evaluate staff; recommend <br />disciplinary action when appropriate. <br />Monitor contracts and service agreements <br />across PSA cities. <br />Maintain critical relationships with the City <br />Administrator, City Councils, and the Police <br />Advisory Commission. <br />LEADERSHIP <br />MANAGEMENT <br />GOVERNANCEQualified applicants should visit <br />https://mn-orono2.civicplus.com/Jobs.aspx <br />The deadline for submittals is March 20, 2026 at 4PM. <br />$ 147,000 to $182,788 <br />depending on experience and qualification <br />plus excellent benefits <br />86
