Date: March 9, 2026 Item: 4 <br />Presenter: Joe Ruthenberg, Superintendent - Parks, Facilities <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Title: Commission Appointments - Resolution 7669 <br /> <br /> <br />1.Purpose: <br />The purpose of this action item is to make appointments to the Park and Planning Commission. <br />2.Background: <br />Following City Code Sections 6.04.020 and 3.08.120; the Planning and Park Commission is <br />composed of seven members, who serve staggered three-year terms. The council may, by majority <br />vote to appoint one or more alternate park commission members to serve when regular members <br />are absent. Currently, there are three (3) open positions on the Parks Commission. Two park <br />commission applications have been received. The Planning Commission has 2 commissioners <br />who were appointed in 2025 that were set for a 1 year terms following the staggered terms limits <br />and 1 new applicant for an alternate position. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Summary: <br />The City Council conducted an interview with Bruce Lemke an applicant for the parks commission <br />and Stacy Royal an applicant for the planning commission alternate position. Council directed staff <br />to draft a resolution to appoint the Bruce Lemke as a regular commissioner and to re-appoint <br />current commissioner Gordy Stofer as an alternate at his request, and reappoint Michael Huddy to <br />another term on the commission. Shane Weltzin and Sam Tift were newly appointed planning <br />commissioners in 2025. Due to the staggering term limit requirements they were appointed to a 1 <br />year term. The draft resolution renews there planning commission appointments for a 3 year <br />terms.
