TO: File
FROM: Michael P. Gaffron, Septic System Inspector
DATE: November 15, 1978
SUBJECT: Non -Conforming Sewage System
Henry Skarp, 1045 West Ferndale Road
Sewer facilities for this residence consist of a privy located
across the street in the garage. Mr. Skarp stated on November 3, 1978
that he cleans out and burns the contents of the privy at least once
a year, and that he lives alone in the house (sometimes year-round
and sometimes just for the warm months). Plumbing in the house is
minimal. Water is pumped from the lake when needed and any grey water
is used to water flowers. A standard septic system for the lot is
out of the question due to proximity of lake and water table.
To remedy the situation, Mr. Skarp has agreed to install a holding
tank system for the house and install some type of flush toilet
as well as other necessary plumbing. This is all to be done within
one year. The privy will be abandoned.
Sanitary sewer is projected for West Ferndale in the near future
(hopefully).
