AGENDA ITEM <br />Date: February 23, 2026 <br />Title: DECA Student Advocacy <br />Presenter: Christine Lusian, City Clerk <br />Section: Presentations <br />Purpose: <br />Receive information from members of the Orono High School DECA team. <br />Item: 14 <br />2. Background: <br />Sydney Nguyen, a senior at Orono High School and the DECA advocacy campaign leader, along <br />with her teammates, will be sharing what the organization's does, how it helps students develop <br />leadership and business skills, and the ways in which members are connecting with and supporting <br />the Orono school community. <br />They would also like to extend an invitation to City Council members to volunteer as judges for <br />the upcoming State Career Development Conference. The students believe that the council <br />members' experience and perspectives would be highly valuable to participants. <br />Additionally, they welcome any ideas the City Council may have for potential partnerships, ways <br />to support school -related projects and initiatives, or idea on how to engage younger students to be <br />involved. The group looks forward to sharing their work and exploring ways to collaborate in <br />support of the Orono school community. <br />3.
