AGENDA ITEM <br />Date: February 23, 2026 <br />Title: Minnesota Mayors Coalition - Safety over Partisanship <br />Presenter: Maggie Jin, Finance Director <br />Section: Mayor and Council Report <br />Item: 19 <br />Purpose: <br />The purpose of this item is to discuss the Minnesota Mayors Coalition for safety over partisanship. <br />2. Background: <br />A coalition of mayors have announce the formation of Cities for Safe and Stable Communities. <br />The coalition is asking federal and state elected officials for immediate de-escalation and <br />acknowledgement of economic harms, including potential 2026 relief funds to cities. As more <br />communities join, the coalition will assess the damages done and determine how to restore <br />Minnesota institutions in the wake of these unprecedented setbacks. <br />3.
