Minutes <br />City Council Regular Meeting <br />Monday, January 26, 2026, 6:00 PM <br />City Council Chambers 2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br />Mayor Tunheim called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Orono City Council members present: Mayor Bob Tunheim, City Council Members Alisa Benson, Steve <br />Persian, Jacqueline Ricks, and Jon Schwingler. Members absent: None <br />Staff present were City Attorney Soren Mattick, City Administrator/Engineer Adam Edwards, Finance <br />Director Maggie Jin, Parks and Facilities Superintendent Joe Ruthenberg, Police Chief Correy Farniok, <br />and Communications Specialist Rachel Cotter. <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />1. Rehabilitation of Lift Stations 12 and 22 <br />Persian moved, Ricks seconded, to approve the Agenda and the Consent Agenda with Item 5 <br />removed and two items added to the agenda, an update on the ICE surge in the Twin Cities and the <br />proposed Lake Area Coalition. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Stu Ackman, 716 Sandstone Circle; Jim Gambone, 1360 North Arm Drive; Cheryl Kulseth, 725 Stone <br />Bay Drive; and Pat Doherty; provided comments. <br />PARKS REPORT <br />7. Park Commission Resignation and Recruitment <br />Superintendent of Parks and Facilities Joe Ruthenberg informed the Council of two resignations from the <br />Parks Commission and provided an update on recruitment for the vacant seats. The application window <br />will remain open through February. <br />Persian moved, Ricks seconded, to accept the resignations and authorize the City Administrator to <br />schedule a special work session for interviews.
