Mr. Clifford French was present to discuss the Hennepin County Park Reserve District acquisition plan for the whole of Big Island. The plan is not complete or approved by the District's board as of yet, but Mr. French thought it would be early in January. The acquisition sequence is planned to be as follows: I. Acquire the Gridley -Vetter property, the Vets Camp and a connecting link between the Vets Camp and the existing Park holdings, all within a 5 year phase out of the camp. II. Acquire the undeveloped properties (without structures) on the entire island. III. Acquire the remaining developed properties over a total 30 - 50 year time period. The operating and recreational use plan is very preliminary, but points toward maintaining the wildlife saneturary and developing the vets camp for day use. Discussion on the subdivision proposal centered on the fact that Vetter has offered the land to two other parties who seem agreeable working with the Park District, but those offers apparently expired before the application was ever made to the City. The matter was tabled until March 13, 1978 for final Park Reserve District negotiation prior to City action on the proposal. STAFF - February 28, 1978 ailed Clifford French at Park Reserve District to advise him of this item coming up before Council on March 16, 1978. Mr. French advised that there has been no change -or progress in t..e negotiations ,�or park purchase of the Vetter property. He is to let staff know of any pr,.jgress by Ndreh 9, 1978 for consideration by Council. COUNCIL MEET1NC, - March 16, 1978 No one present for this item. Council heard 35ovis information and tabled item until applicants ask to reopen the request. Applicant is so notified.
