NO. � e� � � <br /> A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF <br /> COOPERATIVE EFFORTS AMONG THE <br /> LAKE AREA CITIES <br /> TO MEET THE AREA'S HOUSING NEEDS <br /> WHEREAS, the Lake Area Cities have conducted a joint housing study to provide <br /> information regarding housing in the lake area; and <br /> WH�REAS,representatives from the Lake Area Cities met in a housing workshop on May <br /> 20, 1999 to discuss the potential for cooperative efforts to meet the area's housing needs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the workshop showed that the Lake Area Cities would gain many benefits <br /> . through the provision of a supply of quality housing with a range of housing types and costs. These <br /> benefits include: <br /> • A diverse housing supply will be better able to meet the housing needs of our <br /> . communities, both now and in the future. <br /> • Our children and our parents would be able to remain in our communities as they <br /> move through the various stages of their lives. <br /> • A diverse supply of housing, that meets the needs of employees, provides a <br /> competitive advantage to our local businesses, as well as to our cities and schools, <br /> in their efforts to recruit and retain quality employees_ <br /> WHEREAS, the consensus at the conclusion of the housin�workshop was that the Lake <br /> Area Cities should continue to explore the potential for cooperative housing efforts; and <br /> WHEREAS, representatives of the Lake Area Cities met a�ain on September 23, 1999 to <br /> develop a Statement of Purpose to guide cooperative housing efforts in the lake area; and <br /> • Page 1 of 2 <br />
