MEETING <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JAW� cM.III,��t11[ 11�( 71987 <br />The Orono Council meeting was called to order by Mayorli�lciifGWANCIst 7:00 <br />P.M. <br />OATH OF OFFICE - MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS <br />City Clerk Hallin administered the Oath of Office to the <br />following elected officials: Mayor James R. Grabek, <br />Councilmember Barbara Peterson, Councilmember J. Diann <br />Goetten, and Councilmember William J. Sime, Jr. <br />BOLL CALL The Orono Council met on the above date with the following <br />members present: Mayor Grabek, Councilmembers Peterson, <br />Goetten, and Sime. The following represented the City <br />staff: City Administrator Bernhardson, Public Works <br />Coordinator Gerhardson, City Clerk Hallin, Chief of <br />Police Eilbo, Building 6 Zoning Administrator Mabusth, <br />Assistant Planning 6 Zoning Administrator Gaffron, and <br />City Recorder Peterson. City Attorney Blatz and City <br />Engineer Cook were also present. <br />CONSENT AGENDA* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to approve the Consent Agenda* <br />subject to removal of the following items: <br />Item t24 - Private Roads (requested by Councilmember <br />Sime) <br />Item Y25 - Dickey Lake Drive (requested by <br />Councilmember Goetten) <br />Item 426 - Siren Bid Correction (requested by <br />Councilmember Peterson) <br />Motion, Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />CAROL BANSING - RESOLUTION 42093 <br />MIRE AITCHISON - RESOLUTION #2090 <br />City Administrator Bernhardson presented the following <br />commendations: <br />Special Commendation to Carol Hansing, employee of <br />the City of Orono as Police Secretary, commending <br />her for her investigative skills and initiative to <br />as3ist in saving the life of a young individual from <br />an attempted suicide. <br />Citizen Commendation to Mike L. Aitchison of <br />Rockford, Minnesota. On November 19, 1986 while Mr. <br />Aitchison was doing plumbing work in Orono, he was <br />notified by a City employee of a fire inside a <br />residence. Without regard to his safety he reached <br />in the residence, along with City employee Wayne <br />Quast, and removed the occupant from the premises <br />saving the occupant's life. City Administrator <br />Bernhardson commended Mr. Aitchison for his brave <br />and selfless actions in effecting the rescue. <br />
