•
—_
 O
• O O
b. - CITY of ORONO
 ti
' RESOLUTION O T E.C1TY COUNCIL
    .
`9kE Hp4'G NO.
S
FINDINGS
1. This application was reviewed as Zoning File #2553.
2. . The property is located in the LR-1C, Single Family Lakeshore Residential
Zoning District.
3. The Planning Commission reviewed this application on January 19, 2000 and
recommended approval on a vote of 4 to 0, (1 abstained).
4. The Planning Commission made the following findings of fact: .
 A. The proposed sign is a two-sided cabinet sign that will be illuminated by
interior lighting and in total is approximately 40 s.f., being approximately
4' x 10' high placed on a metal base that is approximately 1' high.
• B. The proposed sign is intended to advertise Good Shepherd Lutheran
Church.
C. Planning Commission accepts the applicant's stated hardship that the 12
s.f. limitation per sign surface would allow signage insufficient for the
existing church. There is no other signage currently on the properry.
The location of the sign meets city standards.
5. The City Council finds that the conditions existing on this property are peculiar
to it and do not apply generally to other property in this zoning district; that .
granting the variance would not adversely affect traffic conditions, light, air nor
pose a fire hazard or other danger to neighboring property; would not merely
serve as a convenience to the applicant, but is necessary to alleviate a
demonstrable hardship or difficulty; is necessary to preserve a substantial
property right of the applicant; and would be in keeping with the spirit and
intent of the Zoning Code and Comprehensive Plan of the City.
