<br />equipment requiring water to operate.
<br />Water Service Pipe. The pipe from the water main or other source of
<br />water supply to the water distributing system of the building served.
<br />Water Supply System. The water service pipe, the water distributing
<br />pipes, and the necessary connecting pipes, fittings, control valves, and all
<br />appurtenances within the building or outside the building within the
<br />property lines. I
<br />l Wet Vent. A vent which also serves as a drain.
<br />Yoke Vent. A yoke vent is a pipe connecting upward from a soil or
<br />waste stack to a vent stack for the purpose of preventing pressure changes in
<br />the stacks. ·

<br />(a) Grades of Horizontal Piping. (See MHD 131(b)(l) and Table
<br />131 (a)(2)(A).
<br />(b) Changes of Direction. (See MHD 13l(b)(2)).
<br />(c) Prohibited Fittings. (See MHD 13 l(b)(3)).
<br />(d) Protection of Material. All pipes passing under or through walls
<br />shall be protected from breakage. All pipes passing through or in contact with
<br />cinder, concrete or other corrosive material shall be protected against ex-
<br />ternal corrosion by protective coating, wrapping, or other means that will
<br />resist such corrosion.
<br />(e) Workmanship. Workmanship shall be of such character as to secure
<br />fully the results sought to be obtained in all sections of the code.
<br />(f) Exclusion of Materials Detrimental to Drainage System. (See MHD
<br />129(d)).
<br />(g) Use of Public Sewer and Water Systems Required.
<br />(1) Where a public sewer is accessible in a street or alley to a building
<br />or premises and the connection is feasible, liquid wastes from any plumb-
<br />ing system in said building shall be discharged into the public sewer unless
<br />· otherwise prohibited by this code or local ordinance.
<br />(2) Where a public water supply system is accessible, the water dis-
<br />tribution system shall be connected to it unless otherwise permitted by the
<br />Administrative Authority.
<br />(3) Where either a public sewer or water supply system or both· are J
<br />not available, an individual water supply or sewage disposal system/or
<br />both, conforming to the published standards of the Administrative Authority ( 4. \ shall be provided. . . . -it~ (b) Conformance with Code . .
