i _ . <br /> 'r,;_ -_ <br /> ' / O <br /> � � <br /> .r O O <br /> . ��b. - CITY of ORONO . <br /> - ,� �, <br />����� � �ti <br />��;• RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> . . ��9.kE p4�'G NO. � �5� � Q�$ � <br /> SI3 <br /> A RESOLUTION <br /> GR.ANTING PI2ELIMINARY APPROVAL OF'THE ' <br /> ORONO 2000-2020 COMMU1vITY NIAN�GEMENT PLAN <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Orono (hereinafter "City") is a municipal corporation <br /> organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br /> WHEREAS,in June 1980 the City Council adopted a Community Management Plan <br /> (hereinafter"CMP"or"the Plan")to provide for the orderly development of the City,in compliance <br /> . with the Metropolitan Land Planning Act of 1976 and Minnesota Statutes Chapter 462 and 473;and <br /> WHEREAS,the Metropolitan Land Planning Act was amended in 1995 to require <br /> decennial review of local plans to ensure that local fiscal devices and local controls are consistent <br /> • with local comprehensive plans,and to ensure that local plans respond to recent changes in regional <br /> plans; and <br /> � WHEREAS,the City Council has since 1980 amended the CMP from time to time <br /> to reflect changing local conditions,circumstances,goals and policies as the City has developed;as <br /> �vell as to respond to the various regional Systems Statements issued by the Metropolitan Council; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that a general'and comprehensive <br /> update of the CMP is necessary in order that the Plan reflect current conditions,circumstances,goals <br /> and policies for the period 2000-2020, as well as to comply with statutory requirements; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council has directed the City staff to prepare an updated CMP � . . <br /> for review and recommendation by the Planning Conuniss�on; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Plan update process has included an open house/public information <br /> meeting, public City Council work sessions, including joint work sessions with the Planning . <br /> Commission and Park Commission,and periodic progress reports through the City newsletter; and <br /> WHEREAS, the updated Plan has been completed and submitted to the Planning <br /> Commission and City Council for review; and <br /> � � � . <br />
