Conservation Design Plan
Fox Hill
PID 0411723410005
6

Tree Removal and Protection Plan
Any trees that are within the possible limits of grading have been located. The total number of
trees planned for removal is 177. The grading extents will be either set by silt fence or orange
construction fence prior to grading and tree removal. The majority of which are red and white
pines. These will be replaced by additional trees along the boulevard of the proposed driveways
and around the proposed houses. An example of this is shown in the sketch plan. The choice of
trees and plants planted shall utilize, but not be limited to, the University of Minnesota
recommendations included in the appendices. The architectural renderings also show the rough
landscaping plantings around the houses.

Ecological Communities Discussion
The redevelopment of Fox Hill is intended to maintain the existing ecological communities. One
additional house is proposed to the north, and the south house is being replaced by another in a
similar location. The surrounding pines and deciduous trees will be maintained as much as
possible. Around half of the north house and central driveway is proposed to be outside of the
trees, and in the existing short grass area. Wildlife will be maintained on the site due to the
limited tree clearing and due to the protection of the existing wetlands.

Landmark Preservation Plan
There are no landmarks to preserve on the site. No Landmark Preservation Plan was made
because of this.

References
1. “Minnesota Storm Water Manual”, Current Edition, Minnesota Pollution Control
Agency, https://stormwater.pca.state.mn.us/index.php/Main_Page
2. “Orono Rural Oasis Study” DSU, August 2005
https://www.oronomn.gov/DocumentCenter/View/4633/Rural-Oasis-Studypdf
3.
