CITY of ORONO
rust Office Box 66*Crystal Bay, Minnesota 5532:1 e Municipul Offices
On the North Shore of Lake Minnetonka
October 13, 1986
Tennis West
5801 Baker Road
Minnetonka, MN 55345
Re: Tennis Court, 500 Tonkawa Road
Dear Sirs:
We are in receipt of your site plan and grading plans for a
prc sed tennis court at 500 Tonkawa Road. We find that the magnitude
of .pork proposed exceeds that which staff is authorized to approve
without a conditional use permit review by the Planning Commission and
City Council.
On 10/3/86, we received your application for a tennis court
permit. On 10/7/86, our field inspector, Lyle Oman, noted that major
grading work had been done at the site of the tennis court, and he
issued a Stop Work Order. My letter of 10/7/86 noted to you that a
variance was required for the tennis court fencing above 3 h' high,
and I requested a detailed set of plans for your site grading and
retaining wall work proposed. You provided this information and
applied for a grading permit, as we had discussed on 10/10/86.
Zoning Administrator, Jeanne Mabusth, and I viewed the site on
10/10/86 and determined that the grading wo-A already completed and
yet to complete, including the retainin; falls up to 12' high and
grading/fill far in excess of 100 cubic yards and on a lakeshore slope
of 12-16%, all exceeds the normal and customary sit- work associated
with a tennis court and requires a conditional use permit review.
All work on the tennis court site must cease immediately I note
that silt fence is in place on the site and must be maintained on the
site to prevent silt or sediment from entering the lake.
I am enclosing the application form for the conditional use
permit for the grading and retaining walls. You must file application
for conditional use permit by 10/24/86 in order to be placed on the
November 17th Planning Commission agenda for a public hearing. The
earliest possible final Council approval date would be December 8,
1986.
BUILDING& ZONING 473.7357 • ADMINIs'rRAT1ON A HNANUl" - 473 7358 • PUBLIC WORKS - 473-7359
ASSESSING
