MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD <br />OF ORONO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 278 <br />HELD ON SEPTEMBER 22, 1986 <br />The regular meeting of the School Board of Orono Independent School District No. <br />278 was held on Monday, September 22, 1986. <br />Present: Dave McKown James Franklin Thomas Mich <br />Don Anderson John Maresh William Fenholt <br />Kitty Crosby Lucie Taylor <br />Don Anderson requested that the agenda item regarding van bids be removed from <br />the Consent Agenda for discussion purposes. <br />UPON MOTION by Jim Franklin, seconded by Don Anderson, the consent agenda was <br />approved as follows: <br />- approved the minutes of the September 8, 1986 regular meeting; <br />- approved the appointment of Al Kreb as assistant football coach; of Steve <br />Boylan as assistant football coach; of Lowell Seashore as head soccer <br />coach - boys; of Brad Carlson as assistant soccer coach - boys; of Jim <br />Krueger as assistant soccer coach - boys; of Francis Eisinger as assistant <br />soccer coach - girls; of Debra Lynch as assistant volleyball coach; of <br />Denise inreis as assistant volleyball coach; <br />- approve. variance requests for the following students to attend Orono <br />Schools: Tammy Lentz and Jayne Gahlhar; <br />- approved variance requests for Jennifer Johnsrud to attend Bloomington <br />Schools; for Christopher Larsen to attend Osseo Schools; <br />- the Board of Education declared its intention to develop projects which <br />expand and improve the educational programs of the District, and said <br />Board authorized Dr. Thomas B. Mich, Superintendent of Schools or his <br />designee, to execute and file application for and in behalf of the school <br />district, and otherwise to act as its authorized representative in State <br />and federally funded programs and the Board declared its intention to <br />comply with all of the requirements set forth in the "Applicant Statement <br />of Assurances"; <br />- approved the bills as covered by vouchers 052484 through 052640. <br />Don Anderson expressed concern as to the necessity of inclusion of certain spe- <br />cifications for the eight -passenger vans. Jim Franklin stated that, in his <br />estimation, the specifications are written in such a way that will limit the <br />dealers who will be able to bid. Bill Fenholt explained that the District has <br />the prerogative to allow reasonable deviation from the specifications and that <br />notification will be sent to all dealers that would be affected by these <br />specifics/deviations. <br />UPON MOTION by Don Anderson, seconded by Jim Franklin, the Board authorized Bill <br />Fenholt to proceed with the specifications as written with the understanding <br />that two Board members will review the bids for acceptance. <br />Dr. Mich welcomed the high scl— of students from Sue Sjeklocha's "Contemporduy <br />Issues" class to the Board meettnq and also expressed thanks to Kent Winter, Pat <br />Headley and Dave Gorder for the keyboard presentation to the Board earlier in <br />the evening. <br />
