101786.8 <br />TO: Mayor and City Council GCT 2 <br />�� <br />FROM: Clark Bernhardson, City Administratotf <br />DATE: October 17, 1986 <br />SUBJECT: Bow and Arrow Hunting <br />ISSUE - I3 it the intent of the Council's recent action to <br />specifically allow game animals to be hunted in tha (_icy when <br />they constitute a nuisance. <br />DISCUSSION - Based on a mis-understand ing on my part I indicated <br />to at least one of the Council members during the discussion that <br />City ordinances currently permitted hunting of game animals <br />(deer, moose, fox, geese etc.) with rifles and/or shot guns. <br />This was not correct, however, a permit can be issued for hunting <br />of non -game animals that are a nuisance such as raccoons, <br />muskrat, skunk, etc. and that game animals and non -game animals <br />can be trapped when they become a nuisance. <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is staff's recommendation that the exception <br />for bow and arrow for hunting of game animals when it is a <br />demonstrated nuisance to the property hunting be permitted as <br />part of the ordinance. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by seconded by `, to make an <br />exception to the ordinance and allow for hunting of game animals <br />with bow and arrow when they consiitute a demonstrated nuisance <br />to the private property owner on which they are hunted.
