Irving Kahn <br />a future director for the communications industry was a - <br />speaker. He was very enlightening, he spoke about fiber <br />optics and things of the future. He explained how he thought <br />cable coinpanles would be a thing of the past. Holly feels <br />cable companies are not going to be a thing of the past, she <br />expressed how cable companies and Cities should work together. <br />Two Attorneys from Washington DC spoke about. the FCC cable <br />policy. They talked about procedures in role making, and <br />explained the cable act. They feel that government is important <br />in the process of the FCC cable policy and should give the <br />FCC information when changing rules. <br />The conference overall showed the problems that cable systems <br />are having, dolly thought it was very educational. <br />V. UNFINISHED BUSIN-ESS <br />As instructed by the full commission at the last meeting, Nary <br />Smith and Chairman Olds met to resolve the studio equipment <br />funds. They have lumped studio and equipment figures together <br />and, reduced that total to $8,500 to be used on the needs of <br />Holly's report. Nary gave us a check for $813 for tapes <br />The total for micellaneous. <br />items may be adjustea down from $1538 upon receipts from now -Sat. <br />VI. NEW BUSINESS <br />Due to the resignation of Frank de [:.cnchaux the Commission is <br />..n the need of a treasurer. Cie r-ed to appoint a temporary/ <br />assistant treasurer. Lesley Hughe-Seamans voluntered. <br />MOTION 9. 0.86.5 Anderson moved, seconded by Adams, to appoint <br />Les ey Hu es-::,eamans as temporary/assistant treasurer. <br />tr;otion carried unanimously. <br />The Commission also has a vacancy on the executive Committee, <br />this position must be filled by the full Commission. <br />Chairman Olds brought up the fact that Holly has been working <br />on a 3/4 basis or '?2 hours a week. She is budgeted full-t..me <br />for : l'7 as Cable Administrator. For the remaining time left <br />in 19b(D we need to ini-tiate Administrator Hansen full-time to <br />have the studio available to the public. <br />T�:OTION 9.30.86.6 Adams moved, seconded by Anderson to initiate <br />Administrator Hansen full-time through the end of 1986. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Chairman Olds also asked Holly to think about �%,riting a job <br />description and a contract for 1987. <br />
