Additional Information from City Staff <br />Application Summary <br />Mr. Hanson requests vacation of a portion of unimproved Meta-Comet A venue and a lot area variance. <br />Background <br />On December 14, 2009, Council tabled this item to allow Emeric Dwyer, an attorney representing <br />several neighboring property owners, to research the situation. Staff has researched some of the issues <br />raised at that time (Exhibit I). <br />The lot area variance was applied for in 1986 by Mr. Hanson's father. For some reason it (and several <br />others on Big Island) was never processed. <br />Planning Commission Recommendation <br />On November 16, 2009, Planning Commission voted 5 to Oto recommend approval of both requests. <br />Planning Staff Recommendation <br />A. Approval of the lot width variance per the attached resolution. It is independent of the vacation <br />and should be acted upon at this time.
