We also distribute <,,jr "Directory of Human Services" as well as di- <br />rectories on mental health services, services for the mentally handi- <br />capped, services for the physically disabled, services for the unem- <br />ployed, services for displaced homemakers, parenting programs, emer- <br />gency programs, and energy programs. In addition, we have produced <br />several video tape and slide shows. <br />STAFF DELCRIPTION: -'he West Hennepin Human Services Planning Board <br />is staffed by a full ime Executive Director, a Part-T.me Planner, a <br />full-time Coordinato., a full-time Secretary, a part-time bookkeeper, <br />and a full-time Energy Assistance Coordinator. <br />Organizational structure: The .hest ;'zrinepin Human Services Board of <br />Directors consists cE two citizen representatives appointed by each <br />municipality. These appointed Board members then elect 14 additional <br />board members who are service providers, advocates or people with <br />special skills to aid the Board. <br />ACCESSIBILITY TO SERVIC^S: The West Hennepin Human Services Planning <br />Board advocates wit', aLlcisionmakers such as Hennepin County and the <br />State of Minnesota Lo provide service in a decentralized format to the <br />residents of West Hennepin County. This effort is critical for sub- <br />urban residents to have equal opportunity and access services as <br />do their urban counterparts. We also work for the es,ablishment of <br />new or expanded services when a need is documented through our research <br />and needs assessment process. ExL.,nples of specific program develop- <br />ment resulting from efforts of West Hennepin Human Services include: <br />Community potion for Suburban Hennepin which hay brought in 1/4 million <br />dollars of federal and state anti -poverty funds; West Hennepin Com- <br />munity Center for Mentally Handicapped Citizens, Domestic A e Inter- <br />ventirn projects in several West Hennepin Cities; The MEEL ite Jobs <br />Program; The Suburban. House Doctor Program; four suburban _. sident- <br />ial treatment programs for chronically mentally ill people; a fr <br />co-op in St. Louis Park; County and Federal funding for emergenc., <br />service program; t'^•' suburban federally funded energy assistance pro- <br />fram; Senior healt; Greening programs; West Metro Coordinated Trans- <br />portatio- Project; parenting education programs in a number of school <br />districts; parents anonymous group; suburban detox programs; and <br />decentralized county programs such as the Ridgedale Service Center. <br />
