It is my recommendation that the City of <br />Orono retain Duweyn Carlson as Agent of Record for another year. <br />Duweyn has proven to be very capable in the areas of risk <br />control, municipal insurance and keeps abreast of changes in the <br />insurance markets. <br />Mr. Carlson has requested that his fee for se ice be increased <br />by $1,000. In 1985 and 1986 the fee for service was $4,350 with <br />the increase, the fee for 1987 will be $5,350. The reason for <br />the increase is that he receives no commission from the insurance <br />companies and with the increase in premiums and additional <br />problems placing coverage in todays market, this increase is not <br />out of line. The City of Orono saves monies in as much as <br />commissions vary from 28-101 of premiums. The 1986 total premium <br />is $113,000 using a mean of 6%, the commissions this year could <br />have been $6,780 as opposed to the $4,350 fee for service. <br />I have attached a draft of an Agreement for Agent of Record. I <br />would suggest we appoint Duweyn sometime in July or early August. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by _, seconded by _, that the Council <br />appoint Duweyn Carlson, Apple Valley Ayency as Insurance Agent of <br />Record for 1987. <br />
