PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING HELD APRIL 21, 1981, <br />#'1022 SCHALL continued <br />Mr. Schall stated that there are similar situated <br />garages in that area that seem to have no problem with <br />access. <br />Taylor also expressed the lack of hardship involved in <br />needing the second story room. <br />Mr. SCILall sated that they need the extra room for <br />storage basically because there is no roam on the lot <br />for a storage shed. <br />Marty Bethke stated that the extra room above the garage <br />i.e. extra neight is mainly for roof line aesthetics to <br />the house. He noted ghat it is not a full story, it <br />would only be 3' higher on the outside. <br />Rovegno asked Zoning Administrator Mabusth if the <br />applicant already had the garage, would there be a <br />variance involved to au,-' a second story. <br />Zoning Administrator Mabusth stated that they would <br />issue a building permit and she woulc, have to consult <br />with the City Attorney to see if they could legally <br />place a condition rest.rictinq them from adding a second <br />story. <br />Stan & Bette Rudd, 601 Park Lane (adjacent property <br />owner on both sides c_ applicant), were present for this <br />matter. Mrs. Rudd stated thai: them were not opposed to <br />the garage addition, but feel ,that the second story <br />would spoil the value of their house and would take away <br />the little sunlight they have for their deck and totally <br />block their view„ She stated that the house is too bin <br />a house fo:- the lit. Mr. Rudd stated he felt they <br />would be a potenti� fire hazard involve because of the <br />closeness of the houses. <br />There were no other comments from the public and the <br />public hearing was closed. <br />Because of the neighbors rightsi and opposition to the <br />second story proposal, it was moved by Bellows, seconded <br />by Chairman Kelley, to table this matter for the <br />applicant and neighbor to try and work out a sol l2tion. <br />Motion, Ayer, 5, Nays 0. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />It was moved by Taylor, seconded by Bellows, to approve <br />the Minutes of the March 17, 1986 Planning Commission <br />meeting as submi'-ted. Motion, Ayes 6, Nays 0. <br />
