City of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. i9`r 8 <br />B) The proposed temporary use of the island will not have <br />an adverse effect upon the lake, upon the land nor upon <br />neighboring properties. <br />C) Adequate fire protection shall be provided for overnight <br />campers and di,-'_ng open burn activities. <br />4. The City Cot �s considered this application including <br />the findings anc_ emendations of the Planning Commission, <br />reports by staff anu imments of the applicant and the effect of <br />the proposed use on the health, safety and welfare of the <br />community. <br />5. The City Council finds that granting a Conditional Use Permit <br />to allow the temporary overnight camping of workers involved in <br />the clean up of the property will not be detrimental to the <br />health, safety or general welfare cf the public, would not <br />adversely affect light, air nor pose a fire hazard or other <br />danger to neighboring properties, nor will it depreciate <br />surrounding property values and that the proposed temporary use <br />of the property as approved will be in keeping with the intent <br />and objectives of the Zoning Code and Comprehensive Plan of the <br />City. <br />CONCLUSIONS, ORDER AND CONDITIONS <br />Based upon one or more of the above findings, the Orono City <br />Council hereby grants a temporary Conditional Use Permit per Munic al <br />Zoning Code Section 10.31, Subdivision 3 (D) to permit overnight <br />camping of work crews involved in the clean up of the Big Islenri <br />Veterans' Camp from May 15, 1986 through September 1, 1986, subject to <br />the following conditions: <br />1. Frew to be limited to 57 workers - family members and friends <br />cannot be on camp site for the duration of temporary permit. <br />2. Workers sha l 1 use portable gas stoves and charcoal grills for <br />cooking - open burning to be approved by fire marshall. <br />3. Tenting is allowed only for weekend work crews. The <br />authorized caretaker shal 1 be the only person to remain on <br />site for the duration of the temporary permit. <br />4. The foci lty shall be inspected by the Orono staff on a <br />regular basis during the clean up program. <br />5. Hazardous buildings not removed are to remain boarded up. <br />6. Fire extinguishers must. be provided on site. <br />7. Septic facilties and water si+pply shall be approves by <br />the Orono staff.
