ACT11,'ITV AREA <br />At day -use areas subjected to heavy use, it is desirable to <br />provide facilities and/or space for various recreation <br />activities such as children's play, horseshoes, volleyball <br />and baseball, etc. (these areas to be designed for no super- <br />vision). Areas should be surfaced according to intended use. <br />Play fields should be a minimum of 200' x 200' (60 x 60 m); <br />desirable - 300' x 600' (90 x 180 m), of clear nearly level <br />land suitable for playing ball games (see Chapter XII - "Play <br />Areas & Playfields"). <br />FAMILY UNIT <br />Designed for a typical family group of 3.5 to 8 people. <br />Regui reme.its <br />1. <br />Minimum area: <br />225 square feet (20 sq. m). <br />2. <br />Minimum table spacing: <br />20 feet (6 m) on <br />center; 40 feet <br />2 m) - desirable. Density may be <br />greater tnan family units. <br />GROUP UNIT <br />A picnicking area for groups of a minimum of 25 persons <br />constitutes a group picnicking unit. The maximum number to <br />be accommodated in a group area must be determined by avail- <br />ability of space and demand for group facilities by large <br />organizations. Facilities described here will accommodate <br />50 persons. For groups of different sizes, these facilities <br />can be adjusted proportionally. <br />113 <br />
