.I.. <br />RESOLUTION t1093 <br />A RESOLUTION RELATING TO OErcHortiT OP SPCCIAL <br />ASSESSIMMS FOR PERSONS 65 yf:ARS Or AGE OR OLOCR <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono is the <br />official governing body of the City of Orono; and <br />WHEREAS, H.S.A. Section 015.193 through Section 915.1"5 <br />authorizes the City of Orono, upon proper application, to defer <br />the payment of special assessnents against a-ny homestead property <br />owned by a person 65 years of age or older on January 1 of the <br />payment year and for whom it would be a hardahip to make the pay- <br />ments[ and <br />HNEHEAS, Section 435.196 authorize$ the municipality to <br />establish an interest rate to be added to the deferred assessment <br />which *hall bm payable in addition to the deferred assessment[ <br />and <br />IOIEREAie the City Council has determined that the do - <br />ferret of assessments should hr granted to any person othe-wise <br />qualified who makes proper application to the City of Orono c <br />torms prescribed by the County Assessor of Hennepin County and <br />by the Orono City Council and for whom the City Council determines <br />that it would be a hardship to make the payments, based upon the <br />following criterlu <br />1. It is presented to be a hardship if the <br />applicant is single and has a total annual gross <br />income of $4,000 or leas and total assat., inel l- <br />ing eon -homestead real property, of $15,000 or less. <br />I. It is presumed to be a hardship if the <br />applicant In married and together with his spouse, <br />has a total annual gross Income of $12,000 or less <br />and total assets, including non -homestead real pro - <br />party, of $22,000 or Ism.. <br />
