't <br /> Y� ` <br /> /�� <br /> /� O� <br /> • O O <br /> ��b - CITY of ORON� <br /> � � <br /> . ti <br /> �� G'ti RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> ��SKp4�' . , NO. � s � � <br /> A RESOLUTION RELATING TO . <br /> PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON <br /> COUNTY ROAD 51 & COUNTY ROAD 84 <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Orono is a municipal organization existing under the laws <br /> of the State of Minnesota, hereinafter called the"City"; and <br /> � WHEREAS,Hennepin County has jurisdiction over County Road 51, also known <br /> as North Shore Drive; and County Road 84, also known as Old Crystal Bay Road;and <br /> � WHEREAS,the City and Hennepin County have concerns regarding traffic safety <br /> on the County Roads and boater safety,in the Noerenberg Channel,caused by vehicles with trailers . <br /> parking along County Road 51 east of the Noerenberg Bridge, and along County Road 84 north of <br /> the County Road 51 intersection; and <br /> • WHEREAS,this parking of vehicles with trailers is the result of overflow from the <br /> Maxwell Bay boat landing; and <br /> WHEREAS,boats are being launched at the Maxwell Bay boat landing, and when <br /> the parking lot is full, vehicles with trailers are parking along the County Roads east of the <br /> Noerenberg Bridge. All of the other roads in the vicinity of the landing are posted "No Parking", <br /> therefore this is the closest available parking; and <br /> WHEREAS,this parking is creating a boating safety hazard as boaters are picking <br /> up the vehicle drivers in the Noerenberg Channel at the County Road 51 bridge.In order to pick up <br /> the vehicle drivers'on the east channel bank, the southbound boaters that are coming from the <br /> Maxwell Bay boat landing are crossing the channel and conflicting with northbound boaters in the <br /> channel creating a boating safety hazard. <br /> . � WHEREAS,this parking of vehicles with trailers is creating a traffic safety hazard <br /> as these combination vehicles are long and not easily maneuverable. Pazallel parking of these <br /> combination vehicles is difficult and results in the obstruction of traffic on the County Roads as these <br /> vehicles with trailers are maneuvered and parked. <br /> WHEREAS, this parking of vehicles with trailers results in increased pedestrian <br /> traffic as the drivers are walking from the parked vehicles to and from the Noerenberg Channel for <br /> i Page 1 of 2 <br /> . � <br />
