TO- Mayor and City Council <br />TROM: Mark Bernhardson, City Administrator`(� <br />DATNz December 5, 1985 <br />SUBJ®CP: Police Employment <br />Presently the successful candidates from the oral review process <br />have been undergoing the appropriate medical and physiolgical <br />evaluations for our consideration this past week and we should <br />have results by the end of next week. It is our intent that we <br />would like to hire the ner,essary persons in the following order <br />(it is not anticipated that our number one candidate will be <br />available to us prior to 1 January): Officer 41 - January 1, <br />Officer 12 - January 1, Officer 43 - January 15, Officer 44 - <br />rebruary 15 or earlier should Mr. Gregg Griffiths no longer be an <br />employee or ours prior to that date we would recommend an earlier <br />hire of the last individual. <br />In addition , Mr. Brian Clark and absent any contary indications <br />in either the medical or physiolgical evaluations it is requested <br />that Council grant the Administrator the authority to hire the <br />following persons for the position of. Police Officer in the order <br />that is deemed appropriate by the Administrator and the Police <br />Chief and the dates listed above. <br />JAMES CORNICK, JR. - Mr. Cornick graduated from Albert Lea Senior <br />High in 1966 and spent three years in the United States Military <br />Acadmey at West Point. He returned to school at Normandale <br />College where he completed his law enforcement degree in June of <br />this past year, he is presently POST certified and has been a <br />Reserve officer for the City of Hopkins for two years, engaging <br />in many routine and quasi enforcement activities associated with <br />the Hopkins Police Departmei t. Mr Cornick has for a number of <br />years been in the sales field and is at this time making a career <br />change. <br />HARY M. HENSEL - Ms. Hensel is a graduate of Centennial Senior <br />High in Circle Pines in 1979 and is a Bachelor of Arts graduate <br />from the College of St. Thomas with a major in sociolgy and a <br />concetration in criminal justice. She has been employed for the <br />past two years as a correctional officer with Anoka County <br />regarding intake of prisoners, security checks etc., has been an <br />Anoka County Park Ranger for a period of two years and as of the <br />last three years been a reserve member of the Anoka County <br />Sheriff's Office engaged in assisting patrol funs i,on.: with the <br />County Sheriff's Office. <br />MARK THUMTON - Mr. Thomton is a 1966 graduate of Benidji High <br />School and has recently got his Bachelor of Arta degree from <br />flormandale College. He has been a member �f the Orono Police <br />Reserve for the past three years and has been head of the Reverse <br />
