CITY of ORONO
Post Office Rux!,..•Crystal Bay, Minnesota &SM 0 Municipal Offices
On the North Shore of Lake Minnetonka
August 3, 1984
Ms. Kathy Kurzhal
FBS Mortgage Company
332 Minnesota Street
St. Paul, MN 55101
Dear Ms. Kurzhal:
Subject: Septic System Problems, 2943 Farview Lane
Per your request, I made an inspection of the septic system at 2943
Farview Lane on August 2, 1984, and wish to make the following
observations:
1. The Mound -type drainfield systems shows no evidence of
surface seepage and appears to be accepting the current
sewage flow. This was the first mound system installed in
Orono and after six years of use appears to be functioning as
designed.
2. The pump station is not functioning correctly and needs
immediate attention. when the station was opened for
inspection, it was noted that the pump turn -on float had been
placed permanently in the "on" position by setting it on a
board above the pump. The pump was running constantly even
with no sewage inflow (the house is empty) and would likely
burn out in a short period of time. I placed the f loat in it's
property "off" operating position, then placed it in the
"switch on" position. The float did not turn the pump on as
it is designed to do. It is likely that the last person who
serviced this pump realized the float switch was faulty and
rigged it to run constantly rather than repair or replace the
switch.
THE PUMP STATION APPEARS NON-FUNCTIONAL A": THE PRESENT TIME
AND NEEDS TO BE SERVICED BEFORE FURTHER USAGE OF THE HOUSE
PLUMBING!!
BUILDING • LOMNt: - 473.7357 a ADMINISTRATION & FINANCE - 473 7358 • PUBLIC %0kKS 471 73514
ASSESSING
