October 30, 1985 • v u v <br />Mark Berhardson <br />City of Orono <br />Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br />Re: Invitation and Data <br />Task Force on Lake <br />Dear Mr. Berhardson: <br />On October 2, the State <br />conduct a comprehensive <br />Council intends to make <br />consider the public's r <br />user satisfaction, land <br />Metropolitan Council <br />300 Metro Square Building <br />Seventh and Robert Streets <br />St. Paul, Minnesota 55101 <br />Telephone, (612) 291-6359 <br />Request for Metropolitan Council <br />4innetonka <br />Executive Council requested the Metropolitan Council to <br />review of access to Lake Minnetonka. The Metropolitan <br />recommendations to the Executive Council which will <br />ight to use/enjoy the Irke within environmental, safety, <br />use and public service constraints. <br />The enclosed mission statement and review procedure describes how the <br />Metropolitan Council will respond to this rpquest. The review will be based <br />upon the "Report of the Lake Minnetonka Task Force" (,'une 1983). A copy is <br />enclosed. <br />As described in Part I of the review procedure, an ar r-oc cor►mittee has been <br />appointed --now nar+ied the Metropolitan Council Task Force on Lake Minnetonka. <br />As chairman, I'm inviting you to attend our first meeting un Wednesday, <br />November 13 at 7 p.m.'in the Minnetonka City Hall Council Chambers see <br />enclosed map). The purpose of the meeting is to co3Tect data For the review. <br />Consequently, we are requesting that you respond to the following questions and <br />requests for suggestions. <br />1. How is Lake Minnetonka managed by your city under its statutory authority? <br />2. Define your city's critical interests in managing Lake Minnetonka and <br />related land uses within your jurisdiction. <br />3. Please identify/describe land use and public service 'e.g., road mainte- <br />nance, law enforcement) issues which are affected by lake access and lake <br />use within your jurisdiction. <br />A. Please describe how your city is implementing the recommendations contained <br />in the "Report of the Lake Minnetonka Task Force" (June, 1983). <br />'identify any barriers your city has encountered in attempting to implement <br />the recommendations in the "Report of the Lake Minnetonka Task Force." <br />Please propose solutions to overcome these barriers. <br />
