6. Donation of sick leave will not be allowed once an employee is judged to be disabled by <br />the major medical condition and will not be returning to work. <br />7. Donation of sick leave by city employees will be completely voluntary. No city <br />employee may pressure or otherwise attempt to influence a city employee to donate sick <br />leave. <br />8. An application to donate sick leave must be made to the city administrator's office on <br />forms designated for that purpose. <br />9. The City Administrator shall have the right to deny use of donated sick leave or limit its <br />use when determined as necessary and in the best interest of the City of Orono. <br />Section 11.02 Vacation Leave <br />The city believes that vacation is important to the health and well-being of our employees and as such, <br />provides paid vacation for eligible employees for rest and recuperation. <br />Vacation hours are earned based on calendar months of service and accrue as indicated below: <br />Years of Service <br />Per Year <br />Per Pay Period <br />0 through 5 years of continuous service <br />80 Hours <br />3.08 hours <br />6 through 10 years of continuous service <br />120 Hours <br />4.62 hours <br />11 through 15 years of continuous service <br />160 Hours <br />6.15 hours <br />16 through 19 years of continuous service <br />184 Hours <br />7.08Hours <br />20 years and more of continuous service <br />200 Hours <br />7.69/pay period <br />a. Eligibility <br />Full-time employees will earn vacation leave in accordance with the above schedule. <br />Part-time employees who is scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week on a regular basis will accrue <br />one (1) hour of vacation leave for every thirty (30) hours worked. Part-time employees who work less <br />than 20 hours per week on a regular basis, temporary and seasonal employees will not earn or accrue <br />vacation leave. <br />b. Accrual Rate <br />For the purpose of determining an employee's vacation accrual rate, years of service will include all <br />continuous time that the employee has worked at the city (including authorized unpaid leave). <br />Employees who are rehired after terminating city employment will not receive credit for their prior <br />service unless specifically negotiated at the time of hire. <br />c.
