TO: Mayor and city Council cOUNQ MEETING <br />,,, q SEP 23 <br />FROM: Mark Bernh.irdson, City Administrato 6 ���5 <br />DATE: September 20, 19B5 CITY OF ORONO <br />SUBJECT: Administrator's Information <br />PARADE OF HOMES - Apart from a couple glitches the Parade of <br />Homes on BOWS Point during week days, which have been quickly <br />remedied by the Police Department, the Parade of Homes on Bohn's <br />Point has proceeded well and the Parade ended on Sunday, <br />September 22nd. The problems experienced at French Creek the <br />first weekend were also remedied it subsequent weekends. By <br />November we will bring back recommendations regarding any <br />ordinance changes in relationship to these events in future <br />"ears. <br />BIG ISLAND - During the "mini legislative session" a committee <br />hear. ng of both House and Senate representatives together with <br />representatives of the Big Island Board of Governors and <br />Comm.ssioner of Veteran's Affairs Office was held to discuss <br />progress. Based on information presented at that meeting the <br />foilowing is expected to happen by the November 1st Board of <br />Governors annual meeting. <br />- Turning over title from the State of Minnesota to the <br />Big Island Board of Governors for the property. <br />-Submission from the architects of their <br />recommendations to the Big Island Board of Governors for <br />the property. <br />- Negotiation of an option with Hennepin County Park <br />Reserve District for possible purchase of the property <br />within the next year. <br />- Additionally Big Island Board of Governors has gotten <br />together volunteers, who under the permission granted by <br />the Commissioner of Veteran's Affairs office, have <br />commenced demolition of nine "temporary" buildings out <br />on the Island. It is expected that demolition should be <br />completed, of these buildings, in the next couple weeks. <br />At present we continue, as was indicated st the mini <br />session meeting, that as long as progress is being made <br />we will withhold any action on the hazardous buildings <br />proceedings. <br />SMITH -POWERS SEWER MATTER - Just i note to let you know that :t <br />is romplate a��ai tjie property is presently being hooked up <br />to new sewer line. <br />95 CASCO Polhr ROAN - Trio tuiancor t the prelect has now taken <br />
