City of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. <br />A RESOLUTION ORDERING ABATEMENT OF <br />HAZARDOUS BUILDING ACTION AT BIG ISLAND <br />VETERAN'S CAMP - RESTROOM BUILDING PEANUT ROW AREA <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br />organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS, Board of Governers-Big Island Veterans Camp,c/o <br />Order of the Purple Heart, 208 Veterans Service Building, St. Paul, MN <br />55155, has an interest; and <br />WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br />Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br />Island Veteran's Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br />Island Veteran's Camp, and legally described as follows: <br />Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br />considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br />to 463.261, hereby finds that the above described Restroom Building <br />Peanut Row area is unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous <br />conditions which constitute a public nuisance and which makes this <br />property hazardous to the public health, safety and welfare based on <br />the following findings: <br />1. Electrical wiring is in a state of disrepair and is a <br />potential fire hazard. <br />2. Floors and wall surface does not have non-absorbant <br />material. <br />3. Foundation is poor, pier footings, and no motor between <br />concrete blocks. <br />4. Exterior walls has paint peeling and rotten spots at <br />bottom of wall. <br />5. Roof possibly leaks and contains old shingles. <br />6. Window screens are torn. <br />7. All facets leak. <br />B. Water piping from well from dining hall is above <br />ground. <br />9. Plumbing is not provided with vents. <br />10. Handicapped accessibility is not -rovided. <br />11. V ndicapped facilities; are not p, . ed in the restroom. <br />
