City of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. <br />• ' • A RESOLUTION ORDERING ABATEMENT OF <br />HAZARDOUS BUILDING ACTION AT BIG ISLAND <br />VETERAN'S CAMP - ANDERSON CABIN HILL AREA <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br />organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br />Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br />Island Veteran's Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br />I. -.land Veteran's Camp, and legally described as follows: <br />Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br />considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br />to 463.261, hereby finds that the above described Anderson Cabin Hill <br />area is unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous conditions <br />which constitute a public nuisance and which makes this property <br />hazardous to the public health, safety and welfare based on the <br />following findings: <br />1. Electrical wiring is in a state of disrepair and is a <br />potential fire hazard. <br />2. Fire alarms (smoke detectors) are not provided. <br />3. Sheetrock ceiling damaged by leaking roof. <br />4. Exterior walls rotting at the bottom. <br />5. Building has been vandalized. <br />6. Windows are broken. <br />7. Old shingles on roof and roof has been damaged due to <br />storms and leaks. <br />B. No ventilation provided through soffits to attic area. <br />9. No vents on inside plumbing. <br />10. The surrounding area around the building contains high <br />weeds and brush which creates a fire hazard. <br />11. Building isin a state of deterioration and dilapidation, <br />thus it is a safety and health hazard pursuant to <br />Minnesota State Building Code/Uniform Building Code, <br />Section 203. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
