city of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. <br />A RESOLUTION ORDERING ABATEMENT OF <br />HAZARDOUS BUILDING ACTION AT BIG ISLAND <br />VETERAN'S CAMP - BOAT HOUSE AND GUARD HOUSE <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br />organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Cer.tenial Building, St. Paul, <br />Minnesota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br />Island Veteran's Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br />Island Veteran's Camp, and legally described as follows: <br />Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br />considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br />to 463.261, hereby finds that the above described boat house and guard <br />house is unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous conditions <br />which constitute a public nuisance and which makes this property <br />hazardous to the public health, safety and welfare based on the <br />following findings: <br />fall <br />1. Foundation is crumbling on the south wall of boat house. <br />2. Large garage doors falling from boat house building. <br />2. bnat house bui Ic!1;,l is leaning and appears as if it will <br />ove r . <br />4. Electrical wiring .in boat house and guard house is in a <br />state of disrepair and is a potential fire hazard. <br />5. Guard house has improper footings and is in a state of <br />deterioration. <br />6. The surrounding area around the buildings contains high <br />weeds and brush which creates a fire hazard. <br />7. Buildings are in a state of deterioration and <br />dilapidation, thus it is a safety and health hazard <br />pursuant to Minnesota State Building Coda,"Uniform <br />Building Code, Section 203. <br />8. Orders to remove the structures were issued t,y the <br />Building Official on August 31, 1984, and May 22, 1981). <br />These orders have not been complied with. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
