City of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY <br />OF NO. <br />ORONO <br />A RESOLUTION ORDERING ABATEMENT OF <br />HAZARDOUS BIIII.I)ING ACTION AT BIG ISI.AND <br />VETERAN'S CAMP - CABIN 13I PF'.ANUT ROW AREA <br />WLiF:RF:AS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br />c, err; and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS, State of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br />+•.� -,„csota 55102, is the fee owner of record of property located at Big <br />.t;, ;nd Veteran's Camp, Orono, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br />l�;iand Veteran's Camp, and legally described as follows: <br />Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br />considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br />t-) 4f3.263, hereby finds that the above described Cabin #31 Peanut Row <br />is unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous conditions <br />wh.i,,h constitute a public nuisance and which makes this property <br />hvii .irdous to the public health, safety and welfare based on the <br />fo'.1.owing findings: <br />1. Building footing and foundation consists of concrete <br />blocks without mortar joints. <br />2. Wood is rotten around bottom edges of exterior walls. <br />3. Windows do not meet fire egress requirements because of <br />the screens and wood flaps which cover window. <br />4. Roof sags and is in disrepair. <br />5. No sewer or water is available to the site. <br />6. Fire alarms (smoke detectors) are not provided. <br />7. Electrical wiring is in a state: of disrepair and is a <br />potential fire hazard. <br />S. The surrounding area around the building contain; high <br />weeds and brush which create a fire hazard. <br />9. Pui lding is in a state of deterioration and dilarlidat icon, <br />thus it is a safety and health hazard pursuant to <br />Minnesota State Building Code/Uniform Huildincl Code, <br />Section 203. <br />Pager 1 of 2 <br />
