City of OR ONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. <br />A RESOLUTION ORDERING ABATEMENT OF <br />H_A'LARDOUS BUILDING ACTION AT BIG ISLAND <br />VETERAN'S CAMP - CABIN i4 NORTH HILL AREA <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal corporation <br />organized and existing under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS state of Minnesota, Centenial Building, St. Paul, <br />Minnesota 55102, is the fe,z owner of record of property located at Big <br />Island Veteran's Car:- vreno, Minnesota, herein referred to as Big <br />Island Veteran's Camp, and legally described as follows: <br />Lot 2 Unplatted 23-117-23 21 0001 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orono, having duly <br />considered the matter pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 <br />to 463.261, hereby finds that the above described Cabin #4 North Hill <br />area is unhabitable and contains unsanitary and hazardous conditions <br />which constitute a public nuisance and which makes this property <br />hazardous to the public health, safety and welfare based on tbo <br />following findings: <br />1. Building footing and foundation consists of ct ncret-, <br />blocks without <br />mortar joints. <br />2. <br />Ceiling ' 'ght <br />is too low for habitable space. <br />. <br />Wood is rotten <br />around bottom edges of exterior walls. <br />4. <br />Windows do not meet fire egress requirements because of <br />the screens and <br />wood flaps which cover window. <br />5. <br />Roof sags and is <br />in disrepair. <br />6. <br />No sewer or w-f <br />r i- ava, ale to the site. <br />7. <br />Fire alarms <br />xo detectors) are not provided. <br />8. <br />Electrical wiring <br />is in a state of disrepair and is a <br />potential fire <br />hazard. <br />9. <br />The surrounding <br />area around the building contains hJgh <br />weeds and brush <br />which create a fire hazard. <br />10. <br />Building is in a <br />state of deterioration and di l.ip.idation, <br />thus it is .a <br />Safety and health hazar•1 p r -u ant to <br />Finnesot.a Statc <br />Building Codc.;Unituim Huilding Code, <br />Sect ion 20 i. <br />1 1V( 1 ol, 2 <br />
