4%, <br />Resolution No. 925 <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING MINNEHAHA CREEK <br />WATERSHED DISTRICT TO REVIEW THE PETITION <br />AND SUPPLEMENTAL PETITION OF THE LAKE <br />MINNETONKA CONSERVATION DISTRICT FOR THE <br />UPPER WATERSHED STORAGE AND RETENTION PROJECT <br />WHEREAS, on July 15, 1975, the Lake Minnetonka <br />Conservation District petitioned the Board of Managers of <br />the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District to undertake the <br />Upper Watershed Storage and Retention Project, and <br />WHEREAS, in June, 1976, the engineer for the Watershed <br />District submitted his preliminary report on the feasibility <br />of the project, and <br />WHEREAS, on November 30, 1976, the Watershed District <br />held a public hearing on the petition pursuant to the statutes, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, on April 27, 1977, the Lake Minnetonka <br />• Conservation District submitted a supplement to its original <br />petition which requested that the Watershed District proceed <br />with the French Lake Basin as the first stage in the overall <br />project, and <br />WHEREAS, on May 25, 1977, the engineer for the Watershed <br />District submitted technical data to the Watershed District <br />regarding the proposed French Lake Retention Basin, and <br />WHEREAS, thereafter the Watershed District has been <br />studying the question of whether or not to proceed with all <br />or a portion of the above project, and <br />WHEREAS, it is evident from the surface water runoff <br />problems, high lake level problems, and erosion problems <br />which have developed in the summer of 1978, from the rainfall <br />in 1978, which rainfall is not markedly above the normal rain- <br />fall for such a period, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of <br />the City of Orono as follows: <br />1. The present problems which have developed from a <br />normal rainfall underscore the need for the immediate review <br />of the status of the above project, which project will assist <br />in ameliorating the above described problems. <br />i <br />
