IqOLHAUG ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES COMPANY <br />Providing Sound, Balanctd, Comprthtnsio, Natural Rtsourct Solutions <br />Memorandum <br />Date: January 22, 2013 <br />To: Bob Molstad, Sathre-Berquist <br />From: Melissa Barrett, Kjolhaug Environmental Services Company <br />Re: Natural Resources Inventory -Bayside Meadows (Wachman Parcel), Orono , MN <br />The -13.75-acre Wachman Parcel is located in Section 6, Township l l 7N, Range 23W, City of <br />Orono , Hennepin County, Minnesota, south of Bayside Road, and south of the addresses of 4665 <br />and 4645 Bayside Road (Figure 1). <br />On January 3, 2013 KES visited the Wachman Parcel to complete a tree survey and document <br />other natural resources information for use in preparing the Conservation Master Plan . <br />Kjolhaug Environmental Services (KES) has completed a number of environmental related items <br />to be used in future planning. Items completed included (1) a basic Natural Resources Inventory <br />as outlined in Section 78-1634(4) of the Orono City Code, (2) an invas ive species and di s eased <br />tree removal p lan , and (3) mapping and review of Orono Ecological Management Categories. <br />Previously in 2012 , KES completed a wetland delineation on the site (Figure 2) which was <br />s ubsequently reviewed by Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. The Notice of Application <br />(comment period) for the wetland delineation review ends on January 22, 2013 (Appendix A). <br />After that time a Notice of Decision approving the wetland boundary can be issued by the <br />watershed di strict. <br />Natural Resources Inventory <br />City of Orono Natural Resources Inventory -The 2006 City or Orono Natural Re sources <br />Inventory prepared by Hennepin Conservation District was reviewed . Land Cover Classification <br />Level 1 and Level 3 assessments showed artificial surfaces, planted or cultivated ve getation, <br />forest, and shrubland within s ite boundaries. No areas identified by the Minnesota Biological <br />Survey were shown within s ite boundaries. A natural a rea comprised of oak forest (mesic <br />subtype) was id e ntified in the southeast corner of the s ite.
