MINUTES OF THE ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD MARC11 25, 1985. PAGE 10 <br />Acting Mayor Frahm moved, Councilmember L. Adams seconded, <br />to direct Cy Smythe to do a comparable worth study with 6-7 <br />surrounding cities in the western suburbs not to exceed an <br />amount of $500, to be submitted to Council as soon as <br />possible, and to wait until the new City Administrator comes <br />aboard before setting up any formal policy procedures. <br />Motion, Ayes (3), Nays (0). <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT <br />City Attorney Radio stated that the City of Moundsview is <br />asking other cities to submit a amicus curiae brief in <br />support of their position regarding their denial of a zoning <br />permit and asked Council's opinion on whether the City should <br />get involved. Radio noted that amicus curiae briefs rarely <br />help and questioned whether it would be worth the City of <br />Orono to get involved. Radio stated that he would contact <br />the City Attorney for Moundsview. <br />City Attorney Radio introduced his legal assistant, Nancy <br />Husnik, to the Council. <br />LICENSES <br />BLUE BELL ICE CREAM <br />Police Chief Kilbo stated that the Blue Bell Ice Cream <br />Company has submitted a solicitor's license application. <br />Kilbo stated that he has no problem with the owner:;, but would <br />like to get a list of names and telephone numbers of t ne actual <br />people that will be soliciting within Orono. Kilbo stated <br />that it will be college age solicitors and would like to check <br />each one individually. <br />Councilmember L. Adams moved, Acting Mayor Frahm seconded, <br />to approve the Blue Bell Ice Cream Solicitor's license <br />subject to the company submitting a list of names and <br />telephone numbers of the actual people that will be <br />soliciting within Orono. Motion, Ayes (3), Nays (0). <br />WAIVE $150 FEE Public Works Coordinator Gerhardson explained that a <br />gentlemen wants to move an oversized boat lift and in Orono's <br />fee schedule it requires a $150 for moving homes but does not <br />address oversized objects such as the boat lift. Gerhardson <br />stated that Hennepin County does require a $15 permit fee. <br />Councilmember Grabek moved, Acting Mayor Frahm seconded, to <br />waive the fee for moving an over -width boat lift through <br />Orono and to honor Henepin County's permit as long as the <br />applicant follows all regulations of Hennepin County's <br />permit. Motion, Ayes (3), Nays (0). <br />LICENSES* Mayor Butler moved, Counci lmember Frahm seconded, to approve <br />the following licenses: <br />Earl Day i Sons - Septic License <br />Thompson Plumbing - Septic License <br />Patnode Bros - Septic License <br />Minnetonka Bass Club - Parades i Special Events Permit <br />Motion, Ayes (4), Nays (0). <br />
