Avoid accidents by handling the gun with care and respect. <br />Be especially careful when removing or inserting the battery <br />and when placing it in or removing it from its holster or <br />pocket. Do not use the gun when it or your hands are wet. <br />7. The Stun Gun is a defensive weapon. It is not to be used in <br />any manner except in controlling a beligerent and violent <br />subject. <br />8. The older models of the Stun Cun should not be used in wet <br />conditions (rain, heavy dew, etc.) as they are subject to <br />shorting and causing mild shocks to the users. <br />9. The Stun Gun will operate through clothing and heavy coats. <br />The gun must be held tightly against the body of the subject <br />while it is being used. it is most effective when used in <br />the area of the upper body. Do not Spp_Uthe__Stun _Gun to the <br />head of the subject. <br />10. At the same time the Stun Gun is applied, the user should <br />take a firm hold around the subject to keep him from falling <br />and injuring himself. The electrical shock from the gun is <br />not transmittable and will not shock the user through the <br />subject. The best approach is from the rear --grabbing the <br />subject around the upper torso while applying the Stun Gun to <br />his side or back. This will allow the user to lie the <br />subject down without harm to himself. <br />11. The butt plate on the gun where the battery is inserted does <br />not stay in place well and should be taped. <br />12. A full report will be submitted to the Associate Director for <br />Operations, U.S. Marshals Service, with a copy to MAT - <br />(Traininq), route Training MTRNG, in the event of any use of <br />the XR-5000 Stun Gun by a member of the Marshals Service. <br />The report will be submitted by the person using the gun <br />through the Chief Deputy and the U.S. Marshal in this <br />District. The report will be in writing and contain all the <br />essential elements of the incident, including the following: <br />
